Sumerlee began her ballet journey at the age of three in San Diego, California, in 2007. The following fall, she continued her training at the Lake Arrowhead School of Dance under the guidance of Sharon McCormick. Since then, she has had the privilege of performing in nine productions of The Nutcracker with the Lake Arrowhead Classical Ballet Company. In 2018, she became an official Company Member, and in 2022, she took on the beloved role of Clara. As a Senior Dancer, Sumerlee was honored with the Santina B. McCormick Award of Merit, presented by the Board of Directors in recognition of her dedication and artistry. She is currently pursuing her studies at both Crafton Hills Community College and San Bernardino Valley College. In addition to her academic work, she teaches at Mt. Calvary Early Education Center, working with two-year-olds. However, her greatest joy comes from instructing Ballet 1 and Ballet 2 classes at the Lake Arrowhead School of Dance.
With a deep passion for ballet, pointe, and contemporary dance, Sumerlee hopes to inspire the next generation by passing on the discipline and etiquette she has learned from her longtime mentor, Mrs. Sharon McCormick.
