James Earl Miller purchased his home here in Lake Arrowhead, California in the Spring of 2002. As a professional in Corporate America the home was purchased as a retirement home while he worked in the Los Angeles and San Diego areas over the year’s prior to moving to Lake Arrowhead full time in the Summer of 2016.
Currently, Mr. Miller still works technology during the day on contracts for different corporations. He was an instructor for 5 years at the Educational Management Corporation Teaching Business Administration courses. Prior to working in Corporate America, Mr. Miller was a professional dancer.
Mr. Miller obtained his Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and his MBA degrees after a career in working in Entertainment. In his career working as a professional dancer, his first professional dance job was at Disneyland. He performed there for many years a jazz and tap dancer. He was fortunate to work with such stars at Disneyland like the Pointer Sisters, Pearl Bailey, Shalimar, Cool & the Gang, and many others.
His interest in dance started as a child while watching television. During his career as a dancer, he performed in musical theater, television and movies working with stars Nell Carter, Hinton Battle, Debbie Allen, Maurice Hines (Gregory Hines’s brother) and Christian Bale in Newsies. Some of the shows he has done was “Hello Dolly with Nell Carter”, “My One and Only with Arthur Duncan”, “Different World with Debbie Allen” and “Fame”. He had started teaching dance shortly after his first year of studying dance. He taught tap, jazz and ballet for many years while being a dancer.
James started teaching an adult tap class in September of 2019 at the Lake Arrowhead School of Dance until the pandemic closed many businesses. He was asked to teach jazz, tap, and ballet at the studio. He is continuing to teach the adult tap class and started a Saturday class at 10:30 am. James is also teaching a hip-hop class now and is encouraging teen and adults to come and try the class for exercise and fun.
